Multi-Unit Franchisee Insight - Business Passion & Life/Work Balance Part 3

We talk to successful multi-unit operators regularly here at Franchise Update Media. These busy on-the-go people share great insight and wisdom with us through our profile stories in Multi-Unit Franchisee magazine. Here, from our archives, are some insightful responses from some of these franchisees.

What's your passion in business?
I enjoy all the different aspects of retail, like leadership, sales, and interpersonal skills. And in the optical industry, we have the opportunity to make an impact in someone's life through their ability to see. We are truly changing people's lives. Annual eye exams are wonderful predictors of overall health. We have countless examples where our doctors have uncovered serious medical issues through our optical exams and imaging. We are doing well and doing good at the same time, and that is a great combination.

How do you balance life and work?
Work/life balance is a constant work in progress for me. I want to do it all when it comes to business and family, and I constantly struggle to find the balance that satisfies the needs of the business and the needs of my family.
Bill Noble, multi-unit franchisee of Pearle Vision

What's your passion in business?
My passion for the business relates to the people. Every time we build a restaurant we create opportunities for people. When we go into communities, we have a platform for doing great things. As much as we want to be successful, we want to be able to support the community. Our goal is to do business with a purpose and to do right by all of the people involved. When you do that, everything falls into place. The loyalty gets better, and the business gets better. It is what gets me out of bed in the morning.

How do you balance life and work?
My wife helps me a lot with balancing life and work, and I try to spend a lot of time with our family. We go on vacations together and I try to be home early in the evening. I also integrate family into the business, which allows us to spend time together. My business is like my hobby, so it never really feels like work. We also try to help our employees with their work/life balance. It can be tough, especially in the restaurant industry, so we definitely make it an important focus for our employees as well.
Jeff Rigsby, multi-unit franchisee of Bojangles', Salsarita's Pizza, and Donatos
