Piara Pizza Slicing Up A New Niche In The Pizza Space

Piara Pizza Slicing Up A New Niche In The Pizza Space

Piara Pizza is the Los Angeles-based pizza brand that makes no secret of its affinity for the successful business model successfully perfected by In-N-Out Burger – keep the menu simple, deliver efficiently, and create loyal customers. That’s what Piara Pizza has been quietly doing for the past 15 years.

Sergio Bayeh launched his vision for Piara Pizza in 2005. “The idea was to make fresh pizza that was always ready to go at an affordable price point in an easy in and out location,” says Sean Tan, who along with Bayeh and Abdula Telwar, became partners in 2019, backed by Babylon Capital Group.

Piara Pizza opened one restaurant after another in and around its Southern California headquarters, refining its operations and carving out a niche. And what better place than the pizza market? After all, there are more than 3 billion pizzas sold every year in the U.S. to the tune of more than $47 billion. That’s expected to grow another 10 percent over the next five years.

But the differentiator here is that Piara Pizza is a truly unique business model. It’s not a sit-down restaurant. It’s also not a drive-thru. The smaller footprint of an 800-1,200 square foot restaurant allows customers to swing by any location, walk up to the window, and pick up a fresh cheese or pepperoni pizza for $5.99 all day, with no waiting. Of course, there are other pizza selections on the menu including Veggie, Supreme, Hawaiian, and more, and never more than an 8-minute wait for a custom order. The menu also features hot and spicy wings, BBQ wings, cheesy bread, special Piara breadsticks, and even desert. Despite the affordable pricing, Piara Pizza demands the best possible ingredients for its pizzas. The crust and sauce are made in-house every day and employees hand-cut fresh toppings as well. It all adds up to the brand’s tagline “Fresh and Ready!”

Last August Piara Pizza began a coordinated push to expand nationally through franchising. “We’re looking specifically at Texas, Florida, Michigan, and Las Vegas,” says Tan. “We want to talk to people who feel as passionately about our brand as we do.” Tan says the company is looking for franchisees with previous restaurant experience or who have partners with previous restaurant experience.

Piara Pizza helps each of its franchisees find great locations and assists all the way through the financing, building and construction process, and subsequent marketing. Each new franchisee is brought to Los Angeles where they undergo two weeks of extensive operational training. Then corporate representatives go onsite for the first three weeks of each new unit opening, making sure operations are precisely executed as the new franchisee gets up and running. Ongoing support remains available as franchisees grow their business.

“We have created a unique brand offering, simple to execute, and with a growing customer base,” says Tan. “It’s quality, take-out food at a reasonable price, always fresh and ready to take home.”

The brand is now looking for qualified franchise partners. If Piara Pizza sounds like a strong investment opportunity to you, visit www.piarapizza.com/franchising/, email territory@piarapizza.com, or call 888-970-2262 to find out more.
