Children's Technology Workshop Franchise Overview

About Children's Technology Workshop

Children's Technology Workshop gives children an opportunity to explore, invent and create doing engineering and science, robotics, animation, video game creation, video production and chroma key special effects, digital art and digital story telling. Children's Technology Workshop (CTWorkshop) was founded in 1997 by Darryl Reiter, a school teacher, technology enthusiast and father. As the head of science and computer studies at a prominent Toronto private school for boys, Darryl was always focused on developing engaging science and technology curriculum. Darryl's experience in science education started at the Ontario Science Centre where he was a science host, demonstrating science concepts to visitors at one of the world's foremost science museums. While teaching Darryl ran science fairs, tech fairs and worked through the summer when he started offering his computer camps in Toronto. Today, CTWorkshop has programs operating across Canada, the United States and Internationally. The summer of 2006 promises to be the biggest ever, with 64 locations available in North America. CTWorkshop is now a global company focused on the development and delivery of hands-on, applied-technology curriculum. They now manufacture engineering kits, design their own software and have several proprietary systems to ensure consistency of experience worldwide. Their company is now licensing qualified entrepreneurs and giving them the opportunity to offer their programs in your community. Many of these individuals have science and engineering backgrounds, making them great role-models. Through this model, they are ensuring that your child will have the best possible experience with them through guided instruction by leaders in your community who care about the future of their children. At CTWorkshop, they are serious about having fun and take pride in their commitment to developing the finest technology and science-based programs available to children. Their activities are under constant review by their full-time staff of educators, engineers, technologists and enthusiasts. They are confident that you'll agree with their philosophy that computers are more than just a tool for writing and researching. They believe computers and technology can empower all children to explore, invent and be creative using the right applications with the right direction. The Children's Technology Workshop offers a variety of programs, including after school, camp, academic and group workshops. Programs are divided by age and are available in different formats to meet scheduling needs of parents and group facilitators. Always a teacher (and even more passionately, a parent), Darryl has maintained a strict non-violence policy at CTWorkshop. CTWorkshop is proud of this decision, although often a difficult one to manage with today's youth as their experience with computers, video games and movies are so often related to violence. It is their strict policy that the only video games played during their programs are games made by children for children and that they adhere to their no-gore, non-violence policy. They are proud to be the only national camp with this mandate!
