Way back in 1984, David Davydd Miller (yes – this is the correct spelling of our "DoubleDave") started the first DoubleDave's in College Station, Texas . That first DoubleDave's was an overnight sensation – 'course, financial success took a few weeks longer, 'cause this was reality, not some storybook fantasy. Anyway, it was hard work. And that's exactly how the (dough) ball started on a roll…
Here's how Dave started rolling ahead of his competitors. He had the flour mill blend a custom formula for pizza flour. Did the same at a cannery to produce the rich, tomato-based sauce used on our pizzas. Then he found guys with good upper body strength to roll out and toss pizza dough. While we now use a new-fangled contraption to roll out the dough, we still hand-toss it, each and every time. Somehow, the tossing makes the difference!
