Churro Station Franchise Information | |
|
Churro Station was founded in 2003 by Melanie Farkas, who brainstormed the idea of opening a "churreria" after a trip to Mexico in 2002. She soon invited her close, long-time friend, Latina Zoila Aldana to join her in making the dream a delicious reality. Zoila grew up in her mother's restaurant business in Guatemala, and was excited to return to the business she had always loved best--serving great, fresh food to eager, happy customers.
Melanie tasted her first churro on a trip to Mexico in the early 1980s. She became enchanted with the art of churro-making while watching an elderly man as he made fresh, hot churros all evening long in the middle of the plaza. Every year after that, she sought out the best churros in different cities all over Mexico and Spain, once taking a two-hour journey by bus to the outskirts of Cancun in order to sample the very best churros in the area. She returned to the U.S. determined to open her own churreria.
After a year's worth of research and many churro-tasting trips, Melanie searched the world over, seeking the perfect churro-making machine as theyll as the best, most authentic churro recipe she could find. She and Zoila re-worked the recipe until they theyre confident that they could produce the best churro in America. The friends opened the 800-square foot prototype store in San Rafael in 2003.
