All cooking oils at Hurricane Grill & Wings restaurants contain no trans fat and a percentage of the oil is recycled into the making of bio-diesel fuel. The chain also uses beverage cups that are made from 100 percent corn, are environmentally sustainable and 100 percent compostable.
In 1995, 22-year-old Chris Russo opened Hurricane Grill & Wings as a single beachside location in Fort Pierce, Florida. Creating a laid-back and welcoming environment reflective of the surrounding community, Chris focused on capturing a sense of easy-going relaxation in the restaurant. It didn't take long for guests from near and far to crave the more than 30 proprietary flavor varieties of award winning sauces and rubs, which have become the signature of the Hurricane Grill & Wings menu.
Chris opened two more locations over the following 10 years and in 2005 formed Hurricane Brand Holdings, LLC with Chairman, Mike Matakaetis. Mr. Matakaetis acquired the rights to franchise the brand from Chris in 2005. During 2005, Mike, Chris and the team began developing franchise documents and Hurricane Brand Holdings, LLC sold approximately 90 franchises during the next 5 months of 2006.
Currently operating 30 locations throughout the states of Florida, Georgia and Nevada, the company is on target to open more than 200 additional locations nationwide by 2010.
