Company History
In the spring of 1950, John Searcy began selling car batteries to retailers in Dallas- Fort Worth from the back of his Studebaker pickup. A pioneer in the industry, he based his business on high principles: offer the best products, provide impeccable service and treat each and every customer with respect.
John's Interstate Battery System allowed auto dealerships, service stations and garages to competitively sell batteries even though discount stores were growing in popularity. You could say John had found a very powerful new business idea.
John Searcy's high ideals and Interstate Batteries has created a $650 million privately-held corporation, with over 300 wholesale distribution centers coast-to-coast who service more than 200,000 dealers in the U.S., Canada and select international locations.
