Our History and Timeline
1947 – Don and Katy Kilwin open their bakery and candy shop in Petoskey, MI
1971 – Don & Katy sell their Bakery and focus on their love = chocolates and candy
1978 – Don and Katy sell their business to Wayne and Lorene Rose, who start expanding into new stores
1979 – Don and Robin McCarty enter the business
1982 – Kilwins begins to franchise stores
1995 – Don & Robin McCarty buy Kilwins from the Rose’s and begin to ramp up store expansion
2005 – Kilwins establishes a 2nd distribution center in Florida to support their Southern stores
2011 – Kilwins continues to sell their premium hand-made chocolates, confections and their original recipe ice cream to their customers
