Kitchen Tune-Up Announces Strategic Cross Referral Partnership with Retailer Best Buy

May 06, 2008 // Franchising.com // - In an alliance announced today, Kitchen Tune-Up and Best Buy Co., Inc. have begun a strategic relationship to assist each other's clients in a cross referral program. Kitchen Tune-Up is the number one home improvement franchise and Best Buy is the third largest retailer of appliances in the U.S. In these positions, the two companies aim to give a full remodeling experience to their customers.

As part of the program, Best Buy Certified Appliance Specialists educate clients who want to make changes in their kitchens by purchasing new appliances such as a professional cooktop range or a larger refrigerator. If the customer needs help making room in their home for the additions, Kitchen Tune-Up can do that but they're also available to help a customer reface their kitchen cabinets, add islands and other features or fully remodel a kitchen with new cabinets, countertops, etc. In turn, Kitchen Tune-Up offers additional discounts off their services to clients who purchase new appliances from Best Buy.

Jeff Dorn, the franchise system's senior vice president has been working on the partnership concept since fourth quarter of 2006 and stated that the company is very excited to roll out this program nationwide "This partnership with Best Buy helps consumers who want to upgrade their kitchens, but don't think they can because they don't have the room. With Kitchen Tune-Up's ability to modify existing cabinetry it opens up a whole new range of options for them." Dorn added that this also streamlines the process for the customer. "We're a one-stop solution now. You don't have to go to an appliance store and then shop around for a contractor or look at doing it yourself; you can go to a Best Buy store, get help from appliance experts and get in contact with the most-trusted home improvement company in the country, all at the same location."

In addition to the customer referral partnership, the two companies are developing a program to be offered as a franchise through Kitchen Tune-Up's existing system. While it's a new concept, staffing custom cabinetry vignettes inside Best Buy store locations, the franchise system brings twenty years of operational experience to the table. This experience has taught them to look for the right type of personality and motivators that drive a potential new owner. Heidi Morrissey, vice president of marketing and sales said "We're looking for someone who can follow a system but is also comfortable with a higher risk level and is inspired by being a pioneer in a business model. It's a distinct person who is successful in a new concept like this, that's who we're talking to about buying a Best Buy Vignette Program franchise." Locations are currently open in Montgomeryville and Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
