July 22, 2011 // Franchising.com // Farmingdale, NY – The Minuteman Press in Lowell, MA, owned by Mark Cassidy, recently had a reptile problem! The Canaillgators the mascots for the Lowell Spinners, who are the local minor league baseball team, paid Minuteman Press a visit to film a segment of "Where are they?"
Minuteman Press is a sponsor of the Lowell Spinners, as well as one of the team's printers. They also have a billboard in the outfield which gives them great exposure to the community. The mascots came to their store to film a segment of the coveted "Where are they" series that plays in between innings. The series has the mascots pictured in a local business that sponsors the team, doing the jobs around the business, and the fans try to guess where the mascots are! This has been a great marketing tactic for Mark and his staff as the exposure for their center has grown tremendously; they also thoroughly enjoyed having the Canaillgators visit...

June 29, 2011 // Franchising.com // Farmingdale, NY – Jiten Raikundalia, owner of the Loughborough, Leicestershire UK center, had been teaming up with his local BNI groups to raise money for a local charity. Not only has he been doing charity work with the Parkside and South Derbyshire BNI groups, he is also the recipient of two BNI awards.
Recently his BNI groups teamed up with a local charity called Children in Need, they were able to raise 250 pounds by doing a Fancy Dress luncheon where BNI members dressed up in costumes while meeting. Not only did they raise money for the charity but they also raised awareness of children in need.
Jiten also received the Notable Networker award from the Parkside BNI group, for bringing in the most referrals, and the Notable Networker award from the South Derbyshire BNI group for his outstanding performance in a leadership role, where he is the secretary and treasurer...

June 16, 2011 // Franchising.com // Farmingdale, NY – Habeel Tariq, owner of the Minuteman Press is Glasgow Scotland, has linked up with the Well Foundation. The Well Foundation is a charity that takes on projects to build Water Wells in areas throughout the world who either struggle for water supply or have poorly treated water, in other words they help aid areas of drought and disease from dirty water.
Habeel regularly promotes the Well Foundation on advertising material that the store uses and at marketing and advertising events the store regularly visits; as well as donating to the charity. Next up for the store is a 10k run in Glasgow, that both Habeel and members of staff are running in. They are hoping that the run raises more money than the last event that they participated in...

Whittle is not only involved with but, along with one or two other Local Business Owners is credited with creating and setting up the "Ayr Independent Shops & Businesses". The group has now become a cooperative business dedicated to promoting local businesses within the community. They run on a non-for-profit basis and put profits towards advertising and marketing local independent business in the town including Minuteman Press of Ayr.
So far Jeff and some of his colleagues have been in the newspaper, a Scottish National Television News program, and the Local Radio Station. The television news program actually had a segment that showed Jeff's store in the background...

June 10, 2011 // Franchising.com // Farmingdale, NY - Parris Frisby, owner of the Akron, OH Minuteman Press center, was riding in style two weekends ago, as he participated in the annual Kenmore Community Days Parade. On Saturday May 28th, 2011 Parris along with his PT Cruiser car road along the streets of Akron, throwing bags of candy out to excited onlookers.
The cruiser recently had some work done to it; Parris had the car body wrapped to display his Minuteman Center's information and details about what his company does.
Parris was extremely honored to partake in the festivities and even sponsored the event by providing flyers for the Kenmore Community Council. June 07, 2011 // Franchising.com // Farmingdale, NY – For the past 3 and a half years Diana and Jeff Merritt, owners of the Salisbury Minuteman Center in Maryland, have been giving their time to help support our service men and women who are deployed overseas. They started a non-for-profit organization in their area called Operation We Care. On Sunday May 22nd, 2011 they held a packing party at the Powellville Fire House in Powellville, MD. Diana said they had 150 volunteers come in from all areas and they were able to send about 250 packages with various items. They were overjoyed with the amount of people who came out and volunteered their time to make sure the members of the armed services who are overseas know that they have support back home...

The gala which took place on May 12th, 2011, at the Signature Grand in Davie, honored 100 women in Broward County for their Outstanding Accomplishments in the charity and philanthropic community. When Joanne found out she was being honored for her achievements, she was humbled as always, for even having been considered. Joanne's charity work with her church group as well as owning and running a very successful Minuteman Press center are what sets her apart from others.

May 03, 2011 // Franchising.com // Farmingdale, NY – The Minuteman Press center, located in the Lewisville, TX has recently moved to a new, bigger facility. Owners Glen and Pam Penshorn, who have been at the same location for the past 11 years, recently purchased a bigger location due to the growth and demand of their business.
The new center, located at 1565 West Main St. Lewisville, TX 75067, is 3400 square feet, compared to the older location that was just 2500. Glen hopes that along with the new larger space, they can expand and increase their business, as well the needs of their current and future customers.
We wish Glen, Pam, and their staff nothing but well wishes and continued success with their new location!

Mark Nicholson, the owner, learned in early March that he had won the Small Business of the Year award from the Albany Chamber of Commerce. To say he was excited would be an understatement, but not long after that he found out he was also the recipient of the Small Business Sponsor award from the Linn County United Way of America.
Both awards are a lifetime award, which means you can only receive them once, but Mark could not be happier. Mark, his employee's, and his family attended the awards dinner, where he received a plaque for both accomplishments. "Thirty years ago, I answered an ad in the paper and here I am today," Nicholson said at the dinner, on how he got started in the printing business...

April 15, 2011 // Franchising.com // Farmingdale, NY – Doug Dipasquale, co-owner of the Lansdale, PA Minuteman Press center, was elected President of the Lansdale Business Association (LBA). He ousted the former president who was in the position for 5 years, by a vote from the members. As of March 1st, 2011, he took over the position and hit the ground running.
In a recent news article Doug said that his main goal for the LBA is to get back to the basics of helping all the businesses in the Lansdale area, and that's just what he intends to do. They are one of a dozen or so businesses taking part in the "Love Yourself" campaign going on in the area. The campaign's main goal is to promote the significance of women's health.
The "Pink Light District" is the name of the businesses, including the Minuteman Press center, which are participating in the campaign. They all will be displaying pink lights in their store front windows, as well as offering 15 percent off of select products for any woman who brings in a mammography receipt in order to help raise awareness on the importance of women's health.

Doug, who has been a member of his Rotary Club for about a year now, was elected by a vote of his fellow members.
Doug will first become Vice President in July of 2011, and then in July of 2012 he will take over the position of President until the following July. We wish Doug continued success and congratulate him on his recent election!
