Bear Stearns Opens Frankfurt Office
September 06, 2007 // Franchising.com // Frankfurt — Bear, Stearns International Limited announced today that it has opened an office in Frankfurt. The new office will initially be staffed with equity, fixed income and investment banking teams, focusing on marketing and origination.
Bear Stearns has taken offices in the Japan Tower, Taunustor 2, 60311 Frankfurt. The Firm already has a core sales force working in Frankfurt, some of whom are focused on equity derivatives products, following the launch of Bear Stearns' 'Best Markets' certificates platform for retail investors in Germany.
Florian Lahnstein, co-head of Investment Banking for Bear Stearns in Europe commented, "We have opened an office in Frankfurt as part of our drive for growth in Europe and our recognition that we need to have a permanent presence in Germany in order to get closer to our clients. We are developing the range of services we can offer our German clients, building on our expertise in international equities, equity derivatives, fixed income sales and structured products as well as mergers and acquisitions, leveraged finance and debt/equity capital market products."
This year Bear Stearns acted as exclusive financial advisor to Merck KGAA on Merck's sale of its Generic pharmaceutical business to Mylan Labarotories for €4.9 bn. Bear Stearns also acted as financial advisor to Cerberus when it acquired an 80.1% Equity Interest in DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler Group for €5.5 bn.
In Germany, the Best Markets™ platform offers an assortment of products ranging from leveraged and capital-protected products, to yield improvement certificates including Tracker, Discount and Mini Future certificates. Retail investors in Germany can purchase all investment and leveraged certificates issued by Bear Stearns via intermediaries and savings banks.
