After 40 delicious years serving Quebecers, MIKES® unveils the next mouthwatering step: TRATTORIA DI MIKES

February 11, 2008 // Franchising.com // Repentigny,– With the candles still smoking from its recent 40th Anniversary celebrations, MIKES® Restaurants announces an exciting new era in dining: TRATTORIA DI MIKES. And the first TRATTORIA DI MIKES has just opened its doors, north of Montreal, in Repentigny.

"MIKES® is introducing its new concept, TRATTORIA DI MIKES, in order to better meet the needs of its clients, while respecting its Italian heritage and traditions. Courteous service and special care in the preparation of a large variety of purely traditional Italian dishes are your guarantee of a fresh new restaurant experience in welcome surroundings," states Terry Faulconbridge, President and Chief Operating Officer for MIKES® restaurants.

By the end of 2008, there will be 13 TRATTORIA DI MIKES in Québec—the one in Repentigny, two completely new facilities, and ten revamped existing MIKES®. By 2010, there will be 75 TRATTORIA DI MIKES in Quebec.

The next evolution of the MIKES® Italian tradition

"The warm and friendly interior and exterior of TRATTORIA DI MIKES was designed and built to offer a unique restaurant experience, where comfort and well-being come together. Diners step into truly inviting surroundings, blanketed in soft background music—with an Italian flavor! The menu includes many of the delicious favorites that have made MIKES® famous. Enjoying star billing are the famous hot Italian sandwiches that have made MIKES® famous for over 40 years. At TRATTORIA DI MIKES, they are made true to the original recipe, on a tasty new bun that's soft on the inside and crusty on the outside, garnished with the best ingredients and—drizzled with herb-infused olive oil! Ordering a hot Italian sandwich at TRATTORIA DI MIKES is a treat: just one price—fries included!

Of course, our pizzas are always the center of attraction! In addition to the many varieties available in thin crust as well as the traditional crust, we also serve up specialty pizzas, such as the increasingly popular Sunshine Pizza®, an exclusive idea from MIKES® that pleases both young and old with its unique 'sun' shape!

And when it comes to pasta, available in 10 succulently different ways… Bravo! What's more, MIKES® Festa Pasta allows our guests to create their own culinary masterpiece by choosing their own pasta, sauce, AND favorite ingredient!

Added to the traditional dishes on the menu that have made MIKES® famous over the past 40 years are several new inspirational Italian specialty recipes developed exclusively for TRATTORIA DI MIKES. Greeting you at the restaurant entrance is an intriguing model of the Mouth of Truth, a famous stone sculpture that adorns the portico of the Church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Rome. According to legend, this mouth was said to eat the hand of liars! The sculpture leaves a lasting impression of mystery. And its symbolism is a true mirror of our restaurant philosophy: 'At TRATTORIA DI MIKES , the best moments of truth are those we spend with our guests'," states Ron Magruder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Imvescor, the parent company of MIKES®.

The wine cellar includes selections from 13 regions of Italy, offering 26 choices at reasonable prices. There is also a large selection of wines by the glass.
