Irving, Texas FASTSIGNS Named 'Small Business of the Year'
June 24, 2008 // Franchising.com // - The Irving, Texas FASTSIGNS® sign and graphics center, owned by Jeff Youngblood and Cory Merchant, has been named the winner of the Small Business of the Year Award by the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce at the 76th Annual Membership & Awards Ceremony.
The Small Business of the Year Award was designed to recognize outstanding businesses that excel in a variety of selection criteria, including civic and local community involvement, and dedication to customer service. Award winners are nominated by fellow Chamber members.
"We are so proud of our staff for their commitment and willingness to 'give great service' to our customers," said Jeff Youngblood, who purchased the center in 2005. "To be recognized by the Chamber for those efforts is quite rewarding."
Earlier in 2008, the Irving FASTSIGNS was a winner of the Blue Ribbon Small Business Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Blue Ribbon Small Business Award was designed to honor businesses that excel in a variety of selection criteria, including financial performance and business history, staff training and motivation, community involvement, customer service, and business planning. The award is part of the Chamber's Small Business of the Year selection process
Since taking over the center, owners Youngblood and Merchant have seen the value firsthand of becoming involved with the community. In addition to sponsoring local groups and organizations, his center gave a free signage makeover to the Irving-based DFW Humane Society's Pet Adoption Center. "As business owners, Cory and I are pleased to be in a position that we can give something back," Youngblood says.
Youngblood strongly encourages other small business to follow his lead and get involved in the community as well as the local chamber of commerce. "It has been a big boost both professionally as well as personally," he says. "Take the time to get involved with deserving projects and causes. It can open doorways to fantastic opportunities and making those business-changing connections and introductions."
