Cheba Hut "toasted" Subs Opens First New Mexico Location

Local Franchisees Open Store at UNM

October 28, 2008 // Franchising.com // Albuquerque, NM. - Cheba Hut Toasted Subs opened their 8th store this month in Albuquerque, NM. The new sub shop is owned by Geno Chavez and Todd Tabet. Chavez and Tabet, both New Mexico natives, are excited to expand the Cheba Hut brand into their home state. The store is located at 115 Harvard in the Brick Light District near the UNM campus. The grand opening is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday October 31st. and November 1st. There will be live music, drink specials, food specials, drawings and product giveaways both days of the grand opening.

Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs is the nation's only counter culture themed sandwich franchise, with stores operating in the Southwestern United States. The company was founded in Tempe, AZ. near Arizona State University by Scott Jennings in 1998. In 2007, Cheba Hut partnered with Matt Trethewey, formerly of Cold Stone Creamery to develop Cheba Hut Toasted Subs locations throughout the United States. Today, Scott and Matt lead and support the franchise community from regional offices in Colorado and Arizona. Cheba Hut currently has 7 stores operating and four additional stores in various stages of development in AZ, CO and NM.
