Play N Trade to Showcase New Layout at Chicago-Area Store
Casual gamers, mothers are part of focus
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., May 14 // PRNewswire // -- Play N Trade, a rapidly-growing force in the video gaming market, will unveil a new store design with the May 29, 2009, opening of its store in the Chicago suburb of Hodgkins, Ill.
Gamers will still turn to Play N Trade for the latest releases, hard-to-find retro consoles and games, and local and national video game competitions. Play N Trade also uses interactive video game stations to let customers try any game before buying.
But the new look, spacious feel, engaging interactive environment and an exclusive Player's Club area will score big with the whole family, especially mothers. The revolutionary layout shows Play N Trade's commitment to the casual gamer.
"The new layout changes the game for what consumers will expect from gaming retailers," said Tony Gillette, senior vice president of retail operations at Play N Trade. "The Hodgkins store is a bold new design. It's a store we are especially proud to open."
Play N Trade hired EWI Worldwide to design the new retail experience. EWI Worldwide's extensive research showed that while typical gamers were changing, retailers were not. The new design aims to capture what was unveiled in the research and is sure to make Play N Trade an industry leader. More than 100 of the new stores are expected to be rolled out this year.
An exclusive afternoon pre-launch party on May 29 for the Hodgkins store will include popular Chicago football cornerback Corey Graham. "Bears Care," the charitable foundation of the Chicago Bears, will accept a generous donation of cash and prizes from Play N Trade. EA will be on hand to highlight new releases. Local political and business leaders and other VIPs also are expected to attend. The store will open to the public at 5 p.m. May 29.
The festivities continue on Saturday, May 30, with a community celebration that will include Wii giveaways, a "Madden NFL 09" tournament with prizes and a video game costume contest with prizes.
Despite a struggling national economy, video gaming is one of the few bright spots. Play N Trade continues to grow and expects to triple its franchises by 2011.
