Mr. Sandless Remains Successful in Challenging Economy

ASTON, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mr. Sandless is staying "green" to stand out from its competitors. Mr. Sandless Founder and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Praz says although companies may be struggling due to the direction of the economy, the Mr. Sandless™ franchise system remains successful because of its no-sanding, eco-friendly technique of refinishing floors. Its franchise owners use low volatile organic compounds (VOCs), avoiding potentially harmful chemicals that enter the air when a finish is used, which makes the service less toxic and less hazardous to customers and the environment.

EarthEasy.com says new environmental regulations and consumer demand have led to the development of low-VOC and zero-VOC paints and finishes, like that used by Mr. Sandless. Low VOCs can be less harmful to the health of consumers and can also help reduce landfills, groundwater and ozone depleting contaminants. High levels of VOCs can cause the following health effects: eye, nose and throat irritation; headaches, nausea and/or vomiting; dizziness; worsening of asthma symptoms; and increased risk of cancer, and liver, kidney and central nervous system damage.

"Consumers obviously want to steer away from products or services that can be harmful to their health, home and families. All solutions used in the Mr. Sandless service, including our finishes, contain no toxic, caustic or banned chemicals. This places us as the leader in 'true' green refinishing because no other business in our sector is doing that," Praz said.

Through the Mr. Sandless process, floors are machine-screened with a special pad and non-toxic solution, and then the floor is rinsed with a special solution. The floor is detailed prior to finishing and then sealed with multiple coats of finish that is non-toxic and cures in an hour with the same durability as water-based urethane, Praz said.

"'Green' simply meant 'safe' and when I developed the system and now it means more than safe – it means eco-friendly. I knew I wanted to use safe materials—for my own health and the health and safety of my clients," said Praz. "In addition, our sandless technique for floor refinishing means no mess to clean up, no odors, and it is kid and pet safe."
