Tortured Love Affairs Define Favorite Movie Couples in Blockbuster Valentine's Poll
DALLAS // PRNewswire-FirstCall // -- Voters chose Jack and Rose from "Titanic" in the Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE: BBI, BBI.B) new poll of favorite film couples. As Valentine's Day approaches, some of Hollywood's most tortured on-screen lovers are in the list. In second place are Ennis and Jack from "Brokeback Mountain," and in third place are Johnny and Frances from "Dirty Dancing."
Based on the 1,884 votes cast, the top 10 couples and their percentages of the total are:
- Jack and Rose (Titanic) – 19 percent of the votes
- Ennis and Jack (Brokeback Mountain) – 16 percent
- Johnny and Frances (Dirty Dancing) – 12 percent
- Harry and Sally (When Harry Met Sally) – 10 percent
- Danny and Sandy (Grease) – 9 percent
- Rhett and Scarlett (Gone With the Wind) – 8 percent
- Johnny and June (Walk the Line) – 6 percent
- Paulie and Juno (Juno) – 6 percent
- Rick and Ilsa (Casablanca) – 4 percent
- William and Lady Viola (Shakespeare in Love) – 3 percent
Leading up to Hollywood's big night March 7, fans are now voting in the "And The Winner Is" Blockbuster 2010 Awards Show poll at www.Blockbuster.com/poll/poll1/vote. Voters are picking the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director and Best Movie of 2009.
