Music Mogul Rick Ross to Introduce Wingstop to Memphis

August 04, 2011 // Franchising.com // RICHARDSON, Texas – Maybach Music Group CEO and Platinum Selling Recording Artist Rick Ross has added Wingstop to his growing empire.

Rick Ross, affectionately called the Boss, recently signed a development agreement to bring Wingstop to Memphis, Tenn. and will open his first of several Wingstop restaurants this fall at 7706 Winchester Road in Memphis.

On his last album, "Teflon Don," the Boss raps about Wingstop, creatively positioning his new venture. "After tasting Wingstop's signature Lemon Pepper-flavored wings in Miami, I knew this was a franchise I wanted to add to my investments," explained Rick Ross.

The Def Jam Recording Artist received #1 Billboard billing for his major label debut "Port of Miami," his sophomore release "Trilla" and then again for his third album "Deeper Than Rap," proving his star power, while the successful release of "Teflon Don" solidified his staying power. Ross is currently on the second leg of the "I Am Music Tour" with Lil Wayne, preparing for the release of his fifth studio album in addition to building his Maybach Music Group Empire.

"Rick Ross will be a great addition to the Wingstop family," said Jim Flynn, Wingstop CEO. "He's a talented artist and brings a huge fan base to the concept. We look forward to growing the brand with him in Memphis."

With a sole focus on cooked-to-order chicken, the Wingstop menu features traditional and boneless wings, strips and the chain's newest offering – Glider sandwiches – all sauced and tossed in nine original flavors including Lemon Pepper and Garlic Parmesan. Homemade side dishes include fresh-cut fries with proprietary seasoning, Bourbon baked beans and potato salad.

Rick Ross joins a growing list of high-profile franchisees, including NFL and NBA athletes, who are attracted to Wingstop as a business investment. Earlier this year company spokesman and Fox Sports analyst Troy Aikman became an investor in the company and now sits on the Wingstop board of directors.

Wingstop of Memphis will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight daily. More information is available at www.wingstop.com.
