Moe's Southwest Grill Forms Charitable Partnership with JDRF

August 15, 2011 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA, GA – Moe's Southwest Grill has announced a major fundraising campaign through the restaurant chain's national charitable partnership with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), further aligning the brand with healthy eating and showcasing Moe's fully customizable menu.

As the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 diabetes research worldwide, JDRF has funded more than $1.5 billion for research since its inception dedicated to curing, treating and preventing the disease. Money will be raised both on the national and local scale through franchise partner participation.

"On behalf of JDRF, we are so pleased to have the support of Moe's Southwest Grill," said Yvonne Miller, JDRF national director of corporate development. "The dollars raised at the many Moe's locations around the country will help to further the funding of the critical research needed for type 1 diabetes."

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that can strike at any age, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found, people with type 1 diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump - each day, every day of their lives.

People with diabetes must carefully balance their food intake and exercise to regulate blood sugar levels, which is why having options when dining out is so important. Food at Moe's Southwest Grill is not cooked in microwaves, and does not contain animal fat, lard or MSG. Moe's offers guests nothing but the best with over 20 fresh ingredients including all natural chicken, 100% grass-fed sirloin steak, steroid-free, grain-fed pork and even organic tofu. There are more than 20 gluten-free ingredients and all meals are fully customizable.

"We are thrilled to have a national partner that our Franchise Partners can support locally," said Paul Damico , president of Moe's Southwest Grill. "While we have plans to conduct a system wide fundraising effort, Franchise Partners who wish to take it to the next level can work with their local JDRF chapter and support their neighborhood JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes."
