Novus Glass MADD Event Brings Out Community Support

NOVUS Glass of Sheridan and Gillette, Wyoming got MADD over drinking and driving.

October 07, 2011 // Franchising.com // Minneapolis, MN - NOVUS Glass of Sheridan and Gillette, Wyoming got MADD over drinking and driving. On Saturday, September 24, 2011 both the Sheridan and Gillette, Wyoming NOVUS Glass locations repaired auto glass in support of their local Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) chapter. The event brought in a large number of people from all corners of their community wanting to participate with NOVUS in assisting with this great cause.

NOVUS Glass Technicians repaired rock chips for $20 each and took donations for food and soda. Over 150 cars had their windshield repaired at the event between the two stores. With a Corporate Representative from Novus, several volunteers, owners Mark & Greta Pixley and Vanessa & Chad Terrell and the Technicians from both stores, they raised over $4,200 for MADD. 100% of the money received from the event was donated to the MADD organization.

“We hope that this money will help save lives, especially the lives of the children of our communities,” said Vanessa Terrell. “We encourage everyone to drink responsibly and talk with your children and grandchildren about the dangers involved with alcohol and motor vehicles.”

Preventing drinking and driving is near and dear to the NOVUS owners’ hearts. A member of the Pixley’s family, Beta Kamran lost her life at the age of 16 along with two other young people in 1987 in an alcohol related car crash. “Putting a stop to our teens and young adults loosing their lives to drunk driving accidents is very important to us,” said Mark. “Beta was a member of our family and we don’t want anyone else to have to experience a loss of someone close to them.”

A variety of local sponsors supported the NOVUS / MADD event with contributions of food, free media and other donations. “We would also like to thank all of our customers, volunteers, technicians and donors for helping to make this event a huge success,” says Mark, “and we look forward to next year’s Novus Glass is going MADD Event.”
