Another Broken Egg Cafe Inks Major Development Deal, Franchisee Agreement for Atlanta

Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch Favorite Scrambles into Atlanta with ‘EggCeptional’ Cuisine

July 24, 2012 // Franchising.com // Destin, FL – Another Broken Egg Cafe, the 22-unit franchise of breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurants celebrated for a charming ambiance and award-winning menu, announced today the signing of a multi-unit franchise agreement with Double R Restaurant Group to open 10 restaurants in the Atlanta market over the next five years. The first restaurant in the deal, which is expected to open in October 2012 in Alpharetta, will be the second Another Broken Egg Cafe in the greater Atlanta area. Plans are to open the area’s third Another Broken Egg Cafe location in Dunwoody in November 2012.

Based in Destin, FL and located in eight states, Another Broken Egg Cafe shines in the crowded restaurant sector thanks to an extensive breakfast menu that includes the likes of Huevos Rancheros, Banana’s Foster and eight ‘Signature’ Benedicts, as well as popular lunch offerings ranging from gourmet burgers to Smoked Salmon BLT Wraps. After conducting extensive research, including area demographics and other factors, executives with the company found Atlanta to be an ideal selection for further expansion of the brand.

“We’re truly honored to grow the brand’s presence in Atlanta, and we’re confident area residents will take a quick liking to our gourmet cuisine and vacation-like atmosphere,” said Stuart Ottinger, Corporate Manager for Double R Restaurant Group. “Not only does Another Broken Egg Cafe boast universal appeal, but the brunch sector is still untapped in Atlanta.”

Double R Restaurant Group, based in Lafayette, LA, is currently Another Broken Egg Cafe’s largest franchisee, with units operating in Louisiana and North Carolina. They operate multiple concepts and are focused on expanding the brand into several different markets in Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Atlanta over the next five years. Double R plans to open up to eight stores a year in these markets, and each location will create approximately 30 new jobs in the community. Currently, they are looking for talented management to join their veteran team.

While more quick service breakfast options continue to dominate the marketplace, Another Broken Egg Cafe offers consumers a much-welcomed, upscale approach to breakfast, brunch and lunch. Each Another Broken Egg Cafe restaurant is driven with a careful attention to detail – everything from their hand-made stoneware coffee mugs to its warm color schemes and original artwork. That philosophy of “nothing short of right is right” has paid off in a big way for the emerging franchise. The brand has earned a myriad of awards ranging from NW Florida’s Emerald Coast Magazine’s “Best Breakfast” for eleven consecutive years to Lafayette’s “Architectural Interior Design Award” to “Best Bloody Mary” in Sandestin, FL.

The Atlanta development is part of a larger mission to double the total number of restaurant locations by 2014 – which includes eight franchise agreements already signed in Tennessee, six in North Carolina and others planned for Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. In addition to the food and atmosphere, Atlanta residents should take a quick liking to Another Broken Egg Cafe because of the boost it will provide to the local economy. Each restaurant opening generates 25 to 35 new jobs and awards hundreds of thousands of dollars in local development contracts.

Founded in 1996, Florida-based Another Broken Egg Cafe has become the darling of diners and restaurant critics across the Southeast, often seen with 45-minute waits out the door. According to Nick Binnings, who oversees brand development, ideal sites for Another Broken Egg Cafe franchises include upscale lifestyle centers and resort communities. Total investment costs for the franchise range from $450,000-$900,000, depending on the site and the market. The company is able to keep investment costs relatively low by retrofitting the concept into existing buildings where previous restaurants occupied.
