Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People Selected by Library of Congress For “Books That Shaped America” Exhibition

July 25, 2012 // Franchising.com // Hauppauge, NY – Dale Carnegie Training®, the international leader in performance improvement training and solutions, is proud to announce that the esteemed How to Win Friends and Influence People has been chosen by the Library of Congress to be part of the "Books That Shaped America" exhibition. Dale Carnegie is listed among eighty-seven other extremely influential authors who have had a great impact on American History, including Benjamin Franklin, John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, Mark Twain and more.

First founded in 1912, one hundred years ago, Dale Carnegie Training has evolved from one man’s belief in the power of personal development to a global organization with offices represented in all 50 states, as well as in over 80 countries. The classic How To Win Friends and Influence People was originally published in 1936 and has gone on to sell over 15 million copies world-wide. It has also been translated into over 30 languages. Dale Carnegie’s core principles have withstood the test of time, and have counseled multiple generations of businesspeople, including executives and CEOs at 400 out of the Fortune 500 companies, across the globe.

The "Books that Shaped America" exhibition highlights books that have been hugely influential, and some even controversial, in shaping America’s history. Those selected for this exhibition are meant to spark conversation on just how books influence our lives, and How To Win Friends and Influence People has done just that, so much so that Dale Carnegie Training released an updated adaptation of the classic in October, 2011 titled How To Win Friends and Influence People In The Digital Age. As we live in a rapidly changing corporate society, where face-to-face communication is less common than digital interaction via email and social media channels, Dale Carnegie’s time tested principles are progressively more relevant.

"We are honored and humbled by our inclusion in this prestigious exhibit," says Peter Handal, Chairman and CEO of Dale Carnegie Training. "This selection really speaks to the value of Dale Carnegie’s techniques. The fact that the Library of Congress considers this to be a book that has, and continues to shape American society only reinforces the idea that our principles are well respected across the globe."

The exhibition opened on June 25 and is located at the Thomas Jefferson Building at 10 First Street SE in Washington, D.C. It runs through September 29, 2012 and is accessible from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
