Athletic Republic Opens its First Center in Oregon

December 10, 2012 // Franchising.com // Athletic Republic, the industry leader in evidence-based performance sports training, has opened a new center in Beaverton, the franchisor’s first location in Oregon.  Athletic Republic-Tigard is owned and operated by Tualatin resident Jeff Armstrong, and is located at 7866 SW Nimbus Avenue in Beaverton. Like the other 150 training centers in the Athletic Republic network, the center’s proprietary equipment and training protocols offer athletes an individualized approach to increasing speed, building power and improving agility.

As a professor of Exercise Physiology at Western Oregon University, Armstrong was attracted to Athletic Republic's test-teach-train approach to an athlete's development and recognized the competitive advantage that the advanced training methods would offer local athletes. Armstrong has been passionate about performance sports training and conditioning since his football and wrestling days in high school, and looks forward to helping athletes of all ages and abilities unlevel the playing field.

“As a physiologist, the science behind Athletic Republic’s training methods immediately got my attention. Athletes who complete our 8 week protocols typically see two to four inch improvement in vertical jump, two tenths of a second improvement in 40 yard dash time, and a 33% improvement in foot speed,” said Armstrong. “We test every athlete to help develop their training plan, teach athletes what they need to know to get better, and train them physically to become the best athletes they can be.”

Athletic Republic Tigard offers individualized training programs that are based on regular assessments, the athlete's opportunities for improvement, and their practice and competition schedules. The Beaverton training center features Athletic Republic's patented equipment and age-appropriate protocols for improving athlete's competitive skills, including, the high-speed Super Treadmill. Research shows that incline treadmill sprinting recruits key muscles at a level two to three times higher than running on a flat ground at the same stride frequency.
