Just Between Friends Franchise System Expanding Programs to Promote Safe Secondhand and Consignment Shopping

Just Between Friends is working with national safety groups to educate families across the country about recalls to help reduce the number of recalled products available in the secondhand market.

Tulsa, Okla. (PRWEB) February 27, 2013 - Just Between Friends (JBF), the nation’s leading children’s and maternity consignment event, is expanding its efforts to educate families nationwide about safe shopping at consignment events and second hand stores. As the company gears up for more than 125 spring consignment events, they are focusing again on safety first.

While Just Between Friends strives to help families save money, their top priority is safety. The company has a safety and recall specialist who tracks all recalls and product information. Kami Snowbarger is a nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technician with Safe Kids and attended the 2012 Safety Academy at the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Snowbarger works closely with the Just Between Friends franchisees across the country to educate their 500,000 shoppers and consignors about recalled items and unsafe products. Each year, the CPSC recalls hundreds of toys and other baby and child related items. JBF works diligently to track all recalls and share the information.

“At Just Between Friends, we are families selling to other families. While our events help families across the country save money by buying gently used items, we never want to sacrifice safety for savings. That is why we are constantly looking for ways to provide the latest information to our franchise owners, our shoppers and consignors,” explained Just Between Friends Franchise Systems CEO, Shannon Wilburn.

Just Between Friends recently formed a partnership with Kids in Danger, to share its information about recalls and unsafe products. JBF sends a monthly newsletter via email, posts it online and on their Facebook page. During the actual sales events, they inspect the items that come in and review recent recall lists. They also closely inspect car seats and cribs at every sale. Just Between Friends was the first nationwide resell group to voluntarily stop selling drop-side cribs before the new crib standards were passed and worked closely with the CPSC to educate parents about crib safety.

Safety and Recall Specialist Kami Snowbarger is available for interviews and is a great resource on product safety and shopping second hand. CEO Shannon Wilburn is also available for interviews. We can also find families for interviews, photos and video.
