New-England Area Taco Bell® Restaurants to Host Benefit Day in Support of the One Fund Boston™

Doritos® Locos Tacos to be Sold for $1 with Net Proceeds to go to Charity; Taco Bell Corp. to Donate Additional $25,000

NBA Player Jared Sullinger to Make Appearance at Local Taco Bell® Restaurant from 12 – 2 p.m.

BOSTON - May 29, 2013 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Looking for a way to give back during your lunch break today? Why not stop by a local Taco Bell® restaurant, as more than 160 Taco Bell restaurants throughout the New England area host a day-long giving event in support of The One Fund Boston™, the charity set up to help the people most affected by the Boston Marathon bombings. Led by Bostonian and Taco Bell franchisee, Dan Benson, the restaurants will be offering the popular Doritos® Locos Tacos (Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch) for just $1 (normally priced $1.39) with net proceeds going to the charity. Offer while supplies last at participating locations.

What started as an internal fundraiser amongst employees, has become a full day community event at local Taco Bell restaurants that has franchisees from as far as Tennessee joining in to help. The full restaurant list can be found at www.tacobell.com/DLT4Boston.

“Like everyone in Boston, when I saw the images on the news following the attacks on the Marathon, it was total shock and surprise and I knew we had to do something to help our community,” said Benson. “I thought, ‘why can’t we, as a group, join forces to make a difference,’ and I started emailing some other restaurant owners and everyone was immediately on board. The response I received was unbelievable, as Taco Bell franchisees from all over wanted to chip in and help, and employees that have already donated money couldn’t wait to do more.”

Local Celebrity Joins In to Help

Taco Bell is also getting support from partners like the NBA. Local player Jared Sullinger will be appearing at the Taco Bell® restaurant at 339 Squire Road in Revere, MA from 12 to 2 p.m. today to meet fans, help sell Doritos® Locos Tacos and support the initiative. Additionally, other local celebrities who call Boston home have been active in social media to encourage their fans to participate.

“It’s wonderful to see our franchisees and partners at the NBA and artists from our Feed the Beat® music program coming together to Live Más and show más heart by raising money for their community and the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings,” said Taco Bell CEO Greg Creed. “We encourage all Bostonians to visit their local Taco Bell today to buy a Doritos® Locos Tacos and unite with us in this important cause.”
