Mr. Lube and Prostate Cancer Canada - To Donate 50% of Proceeds From Annual Tournament For Life Pro-Am To The Red Cross

Mr. Lube increases support for Red Cross flood relief and humanitarian effort in Alberta.

July 05, 2013 // Franchising.com // Calgary, AB – Mr. Lube, in conjunction with Prostate Cancer Canada, today announced that the company will donate fifty percent of the proceeds from its 5th Annual Tournament for Life Pro-Am golf fundraiser for Prostate Cancer Canada to the Red Cross Flood Relief Fund.

Set for Wednesday, July 17th at Country Hills Golf and Country Club, the annual Tournament for Life Pro-Am aims to increase awareness and funding for prostate cancer research. However, in a move to support the flood recovery effort, Mr. Lube and Prostate Cancer Canada made the call to help support the Alberta flood relief by allocating half of its fundraising proceeds to the Red Cross. The decision builds on Mr. Lube’s earlier fundraising effort to donate five dollars from every oil change in Calgary to the relief fund.

“Our hearts and thoughts go out to the people of Alberta affected by the floods,” stated Stuart Suls, President and CEO, Mr. Lube Canada. “Our main priority are the people and communities where we serve so we are honoured to work with Prostate Cancer Canada to include the Red Cross Flood Relief Fund as our co-recipient for this year’s annual charity golf tournament.”

“Prostate Cancer Canada is committed to helping the people of Alberta recover during the aftermath of this disaster,” stated Rocco Rossi, President & CEO for Prostate Cancer Canada. “We are very proud to work with our great partner Mr. Lube, to support the Red Cross in their relief efforts for all those affected.”

“It has been remarkable to witness the bravery and resilience of the people of Alberta,” added Jason Guenter, CEO of Prairie Lube Ltd, a Mr. Lube franchisee. “Although we had a strong result from our earlier fundraising effort at our locations in Calgary, we wanted to do more. It became critical for our organization to push forward with the annual charity golf tournament to help support the recovery and assistance efforts provided by the Red Cross.”

With one in seven Canadian men being diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, the Mr. Lube Tournament for Life Pro-Am supports prostate cancer research. Over the years, the tournament has grown across Canada, with stops now in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto.
