Café YUMM! Awarded Re-certification as A RE:think Environmental Business Program

July 09, 2013 // Franchising.com // Eugene, Oregon - BRING Recycling has re-certified Café Yumm! as a RE:think Business Program for incorporating processes and procedures to save resources and reduce waste. Conservation measures include incorporating into real estate leases a clause prohibiting the use of poisons in landscape maintenance, installation of the first solar powered electric vehicle charging station at a restaurant in the U.S.A., developing a program with the City of Portland to compost food wastes, building the first Gold LEED for Retail restaurant in the State of Oregon, and developing compostable, plant based take-out cutlery which is manufactured in Oregon.

Café Yumm! was the third business to receive the RE:think Award when originally established in 2010. At that time, Café Yumm! was recognized for its unique restaurant design: recycled post-consumer paper as countertops, agricultural waste as table tops and flooring material, LED lighting, low flow toilets, sensors on sinks, and for participating in EWEB’s wind power initiative.

Co-Founder and President Mark Beauchamp originally accepted the award from Carolyn Stein, Education Coordinator for BRING.
