August 20, 2013 // Franchising.com // Orlando, FL – Romacorp, Inc., parent company of Tony Roma’s, is excited to announce a new partnership with Round It Up America® (RIUA), a non-profit organization that strives to make change across America through a simple, yet powerful charitable giving program. Tony Roma’s will offer guests the opportunity to "round up" their purchases to the nearest dollar upon the close of credit card sales. Donations are then distributed to various charitable organizations quarterly. “Our team members are excited and we are confident that together we can make a significant impact in our local communities through this wonderful new restaurant program”, said Monique Yeager, Director of Marketing for Tony Roma’s. “We also hope that other restaurants join us in this effort. The contributions that the industry can make as a whole through this program can change lives forever.” Currently, the three charities of choice receiving funds from Tony Roma’s are the Fisher House Foundation, No Kid Hungry/Share our Strength and the Red Cross Disaster Relief.
The Fisher House Foundation is best known for the network of comfort homes built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers nationwide and in Europe. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time - during the hospitalization for a combat injury, illness or disease.
The No Kid Hungry campaign connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. The campaign also engages the public to make ending childhood hunger a national priority
The Red Cross Disaster Relief provides shelter, food; health and mental health services to help families and entire communities get back on their feet.
Additional funds will benefit the Restaurant Industry’s Statewide Pro Start® programs which trains high school students in the field of culinary.
RIUA additionally benefits local non-profit agencies, including food banks, homeless shelters, crisis relief centers, emergency assistance for military troops & their families and services that protect the welfare of children and older adults living in our communities.
