Thanks to the phenomenal success and growth of his business, he is ready to bring his charisma, expertise and dedication to his second franchise serving Boca Raton, Pompano Beach, Del Ray Beach and Coral Springs.

Tabb began his career in hospitality, starting as a beach attendant and working his way up to pool attendant, then bellman, concierge and guest services director. Though this work was sometimes difficult, and in the beginning he had to contend with high turnover and little recognition, he persevered and then thrived thanks to hard work and a commitment to outstanding customer service. “In every position I’ve had, I did my job as if I was running my own company,” he explains. It was that ambition that led him to make the decision, while working as the general manager of a boat club, to bring Welcomemat Services to South Florida.
Welcomemat specializes in providing targeted new customer prospects to small businesses, professional service companies, restaurants and local attractions by connecting them with a cost effective pipeline of new and loyal customers in their communities. Providing local businesses access to highly qualified new customers moving into the area helps them develop and grow a regular, recurring customer base
Within 30 to 90 days of moving into their new home, new residents receive their Welcomemat package containing specialized offers and/or free services at local businesses. Resident information is embedded via patented barcode technology into the complimentary gift certificates. After a customer uses the gift certificate, it is returned to Welcomemat where the barcode is scanned and the data is provided back to the business in an easy-to-read data sheet that profiles customer contact, gender, income level and home value.
In his first year operation, Tabb has built a roster of over 30 clients. To help grow his business, he’s worked with the Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, and sought to network at every possible occasion. Thanks to his efforts business is booming, so much so that he has hired an employee to act as a dedicated customer service representative. His customers know that any question or concern they may have about any aspect of their involvement with Welcomemat can and will be answered directly.
That transparency and dedication have paid off. One of his earliest accounts, a local car wash, is seeing over 60 redemptions each month, averaging a 12 percent return on direct mail, 10 percent above the national average. Other clients have expanded the number of zip codes they service thanks to the increase in interest and demand from Welcomemat’s marketing.
“I understand what people are looking for when they are moving to a new area,” Tabb explains, “and now I know what businesses have proven successful in this territory, so I am confident expanding my territory.”
Welcomemat Services began franchising in early 2011, and operates more than 25 franchised and company-owned locations across the country. The company is also targeting Charlotte and Greensboro and other metropolitan areas for growth. Projections call for the opening of 9 additional franchise locations in 2013 toward a goal of opening 200 locations during the next five years in high-profile, transient markets across the country.
