Card Connection Franchisees Ron and Shirley Maynard Win HSBC BFA Micro-Business Award

October 07, 2013 // Franchising.com // Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection has today announced that franchisees, Ron and Shirley Maynard, have won the prestigious British Franchise Association HSBC Micro-business Franchisee of the year award for 2013. Ron and Shirley Maynard have supplied Card Connection’s extensive range of high quality greetings cards and accessories to retailers in their Oxford and Banbury territory for the past 18 years.

“There are an estimated 40,000 franchisees in the UK and just 17 finalists made it through to the HSBC Franchisee of the Year Awards which were held at a black-tie gala dinner in Birmingham last week,” explains Michael Johnson, managing director Card Connection. “We are delighted that Ron and Shirley Maynard’s achievements have ‘stood out from the crowd’ to be recognised as winners of the Micro-business award in this way.”

Ron and Shirley Maynard have just signed a further five year franchise contract with Card Connection, to continue to supply greeting cards and accessories in retail outlets on a ‘consignment’ basis.

Card Connection was the only organisation with finalists named in more than one category for the BFA awards which recognise franchisees who have demonstrated exceptional business practice in their area of expertise. Martin Rolfe, Card Connection franchisee of 20 years, was a finalist for the Long Serving Franchisee award.

Card Connection is part of UK Greetings, which is a subsidiary of one of the largest greeting card publishers in the world and has limited vacancies for franchisees that are keen to run an expanding business. Suitable candidates would ideally have some management experience as, once established, and depending on the size of the territory, they could be expected to employ a small team, operate a small warehouse and have several liveried vans on the road.

Since the franchise network in Ireland and the UK is complete, the available opportunities now consist of acquiring an already established territory from an existing franchisee. These vary in price according to their level of development, but start at £7k + Stock + Card Connection fee with earnings potential in excess of £50k per annum.
