Oklahoma City (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 - In the 11th of a series of reports titled "America Employed, "Express Employment Professionals, the nation’s largest privately held staffing firm, today released findings revealing what benefits employers consider most negotiable.
The survey of 264 Express franchises across the nation revealed that job applicants are most likely able to negotiate salary. The second most negotiable benefit is a flexible schedule. Very few respondents considered retirement plans, sign-on bonuses, or education assistance to be most negotiable.
"When deciding on a job offer, it’s important to know what employers will and will not negotiate," said Bob Funk, CEO of Express Employment Professionals, and a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. "You’re on solid ground if you try to negotiate salary, and with today’s technological advances, a flexible schedule is increasingly negotiable as well. But you usually can’t expect employers to offer that flexibility up-front; you have to be willing to ask and to make a case for it.
"Employers should take note of these results as well. If you’re competing for a qualified candidate, you have to be willing to negotiate," Funk said. "You don’t want to be out-maneuvered by a competitor who is willing to offer greater flexibility to a prospective employee."
Respondents were asked, "What benefit are you most willing to negotiate when offering an applicant a job?" The responses were as follows.
