BURLINGTON, Ontario - December 09, 2013 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - As a response to a dramatic rise in Alberta’s aging population, Right at Home, a leading home health care and wellness company, is bringing a brand new care solution to Calgary, with plans to expand throughout the province. The senior health care provider will spearhead its growth with two new offices in Calgary before eventually opening 10 more offices across Alberta, which will provide 1,200 jobs.
According to Alberta Health, 103 Albertans reach the age of 65 each day. By 2031, when the last of the baby boomers will reach 65 years of age, it is projected that there will be more than 923,000 seniors – one in five Albertans. In light of these figures, a poll by the Canadian Medical Association found that 93 per cent of those surveyed want a national strategy for seniors’ health care, with a focus on in-home services.
"With the rapidly aging population in Canada and worldwide, we are seeing a growing demand and need for in-home senior care options," CEO and Founder of Right at Home Allen Hager said. "Through the success we have experienced in other markets, we have been able to build a platform that can be tailored to each individual market. Our entrance into the Calgary community will kickstart our plans to provide much-needed services to Alberta, and eventually the wider Canadian population."
Right at Home’s two new offices in Calgary will be headed by a team whose members have a strong collective background. The team, which joined Right at Home as a provincial partner, includes doctors, an occupational therapist and a human resource specialist.
Right at Home Canada specializes in the highest level of quality and specialty care, customization of service, and consistency of caregivers to meet the exact needs of a client with their personalized plan. With headquarters in Burlington, the launch in Calgary will spearhead Right at Home’s expectations to later grow in British Columbia, before becoming the national in-home care service across Canada.
"There is a huge and growing market for home health care in Canada," Chief Operations Officer of Right at Home Canada Mark Goliger said. "With plans to add 12 units to Alberta, our provincial partner will be creating significant employment opportunities within the province while servicing thousands of clients in need."
On a global scale, estimates show there will be over two billion people age 60 and older by 2050. While the in-home care industry is still in its infancy on a global front and government regulations vary from country to country, the fact remains that the general public is aging, living longer and wanting to spend their last years in the comfort of their own homes. Additionally, people aren't just growing older; they are living longer due to an increased commitment to health and wellness, as well as the advancement of medicine.
