December 31, 2013 // Franchising.com // Davie, Fla. – Dental Fix Rx, LLC, a mobile dental equipment and handpiece repair company, announced today it has created a new veteran incentive program to help returning and former service members make their business ownership dreams a reality. As of January 1st, new veteran franchisees will receive $5,000 in equipment parts to assist them in launching their business.
Transition to the civilian life can be a difficult process for many veterans. The unemployment rate for this segment of the population has remained a challenging one in the past few years, slightly declining in 2012. As veterans continue to look for new career opportunities as they exit the U.S. military, many have expressed increased interest in starting their own business.
In the past year, Dental Fix has awarded 20 franchises to U.S. military veterans. This represents over 50 percent of the company’s new franchisees in 2013.
Brian Roeder of Philadelphia, Pa., was recently granted Dental Fix’s 39th franchise of 2013. His mobile service center is set to start operating in February 2014. A U.S. Navy veteran, Roeder left the military in December 2000. For the past six months, he has been researching franchise opportunities until he found the right one for him.
"I knew for a long time I wanted to run my own business. Dental Fix was exactly what I was looking for," said Roeder. " It had the structure and offered a cookie-cutter approach to setting up the business. You can’t go wrong with it. I am 100 percent sure this is where I want to be and I know I am going to be successful at it."
Roeder’s franchise is the company’s first mobile service center to operate in Philadelphia and its surrounding areas.
The signed agreement with Roeder is part of an aggressive expansion plan for Dental Fix, calling for 500 new vans in the next five years throughout the United States and Canada. As the company grows and looks to recruit the right franchise partners, it has started to put special emphasis on attracting veterans to the business.
"We are going to increase the number of veteran-owned franchises," said David Lopez, CEO, Dental Fix. "Former service members make outstanding Dental Fix business owners. They are committed, receptive, good at following systems and know how to execute. We definitely want them on our team."
Dental Fix’s business model has been very well-received by veterans. In 2013, the company responded to a minimum of 250 inquiries from this segment alone.
"The beauty of this franchise is that you are buying into a proven and structured system," said Matthew Lau, Dental Fix’s director of training and franchisee.
Lau, who comes to Dental Fix after 22 years in the Air Force, is not only the corporate trainer, but also acquired a franchise four months ago. It operates in Melbourne, Fla.
"This has been a great experience," added Lau. "My success is now on me. It is hard to put into words. But, being able to create my own destiny is a liberating feeling. The best part is that despite not being too business savvy, Dental Fix’s system has helped me succeed. The team of people and culture in this organization is something that I love to be a part of."
