Paul Davis Customer Appreciation Event and Open House Honors 15 Years in Business

Local Company Works with Jacksonville Firefighters Union to Distribute Smoke Detectors

February 24, 2014 // Franchising.com // Jacksonville, Fla. - Paul Davis Restoration of North Florida, a leading provider of fire, water and mold damage restoration services for residential and commercial properties, recently held a customer appreciation event to thank customers, vendors and suppliers who have supported the company for more than 15 years in business under its current ownership. Mike and Marguerite Mumford have owned the long-standing Jacksonville business which has grown steadily in northeast Florida. The 15 year milestone serves as an opportunity to recognize those who have contributed to the company's success.

In 2012, due to growth, the company moved its headquarters to a fully-renovated historic building in Springfield. Last year, the building located at 2111 N. Liberty Street in Jacksonville, won an award from the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission in celebration of National Preservation Month in May, among others.

During the open house, members of the Paul Davis team along with Jacksonville Firefighters Union and the ADT Security Systems distributed free smoke detectors to more than 100 guests. Additionally, free continuing education (CE) classes were held at the Paul Davis location for insurance agents and adjusters throughout the day.

Marguerite and Mike Mumford, Paul Davis office owners, honored their guests with food and beverage from Biscotti's and Seasons 52 restaurants along with live entertainment. The renovated building features the franchise company's office headquarters, operations center, classroom, showroom, kitchen, and contents cleaning and storage facility in a former Chevrolet Parts Depot. The 40,000-square-foot, circa 1929 two-story building was purchased by the Mumfords in late 2012.

The Mumford's staff and guests who attended the open house participated in tours of the structure which was designed by Detroit-based architect Alfred Kahn as a concrete, brick, and steel facility.

To accommodate the modernization, the structure was extensively cleaned, stabilized, and renovated with interior and exterior improvements including a new roof, chimney and windows, with most of the materials saved and reused in the interior and exterior renovations, among others.

Some historic features of the space were kept with original garage doors, radiators, terrazzo flooring and original interior brick features, plus the original fire suppression system was able to be saved with minor modifications and was painted red. Some areas of the building were also renovated to retrofit space from the original fresh water wells, coal chutes, and segregated bathrooms.

"Mike and I, along with our 35 employees are very appreciative of our success in northeast Florida since 1999," she said.
