Finalists Unveiled for "Greatest Hipster in History"

Winner to Be Named at the Irony Games in Seattle on April 1; Voting Underway for Coveted Honor at HipsterTaxCrisis.com

SEATTLE, WA - (Marketwired) - March 26, 2014 - After two weeks of intensely debated nominations, finalists for the coveted "Greatest Hipster In History" (voting at HipsterTaxCrisis.com) were released today, led by a well-crafted collection of historically relevant progressives, with a winner to be crowned at the first Irony Games on April 1 in Seattle.

The six finalists for the "Greatest Hipster In History" award -- expected to soon eclipse awards such as "Teen Choice," "Nobel Prize for Peace," and "Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year" due to the immense interest in the hipster lifestyle -- include:

  • President Abraham Lincoln
  • Albert Einstein
  • Audrey Hepburn
  • Jack Kerouac
  • Joan Of Arc
  • Socrates

"We're going to crown this important title on some much-deserving historical Hipster," said ESPN anchor Kenny Mayne, who's been leading a campaign to educate hipsters about taxes and highlight their greatness at HipsterTaxCrisis.com. "We want to showcase the guy who talked about 'Four scores and seven years ago,' but secretly rode a Penny Farthing bike in his spare time. And at the same time, we're helping today's hipsters understand where they came from, and that most baristas at local fair-trade coffee houses are not, in fact, registered tax professionals."

The Irony Games is sponsored by H&R Block (NYSE: HRB) and hosted by comic Kyle Ray, with music from Seattle's Elk & Boar and Chicago's The Flavor Savers -- considered the sexiest band in history. It will be held at Fred Wildlife Refuge in Seattle's hipster-haven Capital Hill neighborhood on April 1, and celebrate the life, music, and ironic living with awards for Best In Scarf, Best in Skinny Jeans, along with the crowning of the "Greatest Hipster In History"

For every attendee at the event, H&R Block will make a charitable donation to Covenant House International serving homeless youth, which Block is also doing for anyone who shares any digital element found at HipsterTaxCrisis.com with the hashtag #HipsterTax, up to a total donation of $10,000.

"We're going to honor the hipster people," added Mayne. "There are issues to address, of course, with about 81 percent of today's hipsters believing paying taxes has become 'too mainstream.' But we can celebrate and educate at the same time."
