April 04, 2014 // Franchising.com // CiCi's Pizza will celebrate the reopening of its Joplin restaurant at a new location on South Rangeline Road with a fundraiser for Rebuild Joplin starting Monday, March 24 through Sunday, April 6. The original CiCi's Pizza in Joplin was destroyed by the 2011 tornado.
The new restaurant is owned by Greg Costley and operated by James Martin. Costley has been part of the CiCi's family for 20 years, serves as president of the CiCi's Franchise Advisory Council, and owns five additional locations in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
"Our loyal fans have been patiently waiting for us to return to Joplin and we're so happy to be back and support such a worthy organization like Rebuild Joplin," said Costley. "The effects of the 2011 tornado in Joplin are still apparent today and now that we've been able to rebuild, we want to help others do the same. We invite everyone to join us and help us support the organization."
From March 24 through April 6, guests who donate $1 at CiCi's to Rebuild Joplin will receive a coupon redeemable in May for a free drink with adult buffet purchase. CiCi's will also host an all-day fundraiser on April 3 with 20 percent of the day's sales benefiting the organization.
"As a community, it's important for us to do the hard work and seek out those tornado survivors with remaining needs," said Rebuild Joplin Director of Development, Thomas Corley. "We've come so far with the recovery effort, and Rebuild Joplin is determined to finish the job of repairing the homes of tornado survivors."
The Rebuild Joplin organization has rebuilt and repaired 125 homes so far, and estimates that there is an additional 60 Joplin families that qualify for their services.
In addition to the fundraising events, CiCi's also donated 500 Pizza Pass key tags to Rebuild Joplin to sell for $5 each. The key tags have three reusable CiCi's offers – two can dine for $12; free kid's buffet with purchase; and a free order of cinnamon rolls with purchase – that are redeemable through April 2015.
CiCi's custom pizza buffet features nearly 30 different pizzas plus pasta, salad, soup and oven-baked desserts, regularly priced at just $5.49 for an adult buffet and $4 for a kid's buffet including kid's drink. Every CiCi's restaurant makes each pizza by hand, using freshly prepared and stretched dough, sauce made in small batches with a special blend of herbs and seasonings, freshly grated cheese and crisp vegetables. All pizzas are also available To Go and a large, one-topping 14 inch pizza is priced at $6.
The Joplin restaurant is open for dine-in and carryout Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
