Cruise Holidays to Launch Inaugural 2014 Symposium, Highlighting Vancouver, British Columbia

Event Will Provide Franchise Owners and Agents with Firsthand Knowledge and Expertise Allowing for New Opportunities in Selling Pre- and Post-Cruise or Land-Only Vacations

June 27, 2014 // Franchising.com // Plymouth, MN - Today, Cruise Holidays International announced that it will launch an innovative new event – Cruise Holidays Symposium – that will showcase a myriad of both land and sea travel opportunities around a particular destination, including luxury hotels, tours and cruises. Taking place in and around Vancouver, British Columbia, September 22-27, 2014, the inaugural Cruise Holidays Symposium hosted by the Globus Family of Brands is officially open for registration. Participants may also add on a 3-day coastal cruise on Holland America Line's m/s Zuiderdam, from Vancouver to San Francisco, September 27-30, at exclusive negotiated rates.

"Vancouver is a premier cruise port, with major opportunities for pre- and post-cruise vacations or land-only getaways – and when you factor in the nearby destinations of Victoria and Whistler, it's the perfect locale for our inaugural Symposium," said Kevin Weisner, Senior Vice President, Cruise Holidays International. "By offering an array of tours and sight-seeing opportunities, we'll ensure our Cruise Holidays experts return home ready to provide firsthand knowledgeable advice to their clients. Plus, spacing this event four months after our Annual Convention provides another timely opportunity for participants to share ideas and build camaraderie."

The Cruise Holidays Symposium features tours throughout Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler and enables attendees to further bolster their product knowledge and provide thoughtful, detailed counsel to clients interested in traveling to this region. Participants will be welcomed to Vancouver on September 22 with a cocktail reception and dinner at their hotel, the Fairmont Waterfront. This luxury property – ranked among the top 10 hotels in Western Canada by readers of Condé Nast Traveler last year – receives top marks from hotel guests for its panoramic harbor views, locally-inspired Herons West Coast Kitchen + Bar and exceptional staff. The Fairmont Waterfront is also conveniently located in the heart of Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal, from where the m/s Zuiderdam departs.

On September 23, attendees will board Rocky Mountaineer's Whistler Mountaineer en route to Whistler, British Columbia, on the scenic "Sea to Sky Route." They'll enjoy stunning views of Howe Sound and British Columbia's Coast Mountains. A dedicated Rocky Mountaineer Vacations representative will travel with the group to discuss rail vacation options within the Canadian Rockies and Whistler. Once at Whistler, franchise owners and agents will have the afternoon to enjoy this world-class resort, including shops, restaurants and the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Center, dedicated to the history and culture of the First Nations people. They will return to Vancouver by deluxe motorcoach along the incredible Sea to Sky Highway.

Additional highlights will include escorted tours and self-guided exploration throughout Vancouver, including the harbor front, Chinatown, Gastown, beach neighborhoods and Vancouver's North Shore. The tours will incorporate visits to two of the city's most coveted tourist attractions – the new FlyOver Canada flight simulator and the breathtaking Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. The North Shore excursion will feature a gondola ride to the top of Grouse Mountain, which served as a 24/7 entertainment hub during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. One full day will be dedicated to exploring the charming island city of Victoria. Participants will ferry across and enjoy a hosted visit to the world-renowned Butchart Gardens. A Victoria city orientation tour will showcase the gardens of Beacon Hill Park, Bastion Square and Thunderbird Park. Cruise Holidays Symposium attendees will then be treated to High Tea at the celebrated Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria. Participants will enjoy a farewell dinner on September 26, hosted by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

The optional coastal cruise aboard Holland America Line's m/s Zuiderdam departs the afternoon of September 27 and arrives in San Francisco on September 30. It includes a port call in Astoria, OR – a historic town nestled at the mouth of the Columbia River, with a revitalized 1920s-era downtown.

Registration information for the Cruise Holidays Symposium and coastal cruise is being provided directly to all franchise owners, and is also available on Cruise Holidays' password-protected extranet site, The Bridge.
