Maui Wowi Expands California Presence with Latest Franchisee

Coffee and Smoothie retailer, Maui Wowi Hawaiian, welcomes new franchisee in Chico, California who plans to be the next in line to open a fixed location and be a part of the brand’s expansion in the state.

July 16, 2014 // Franchising.com // Greenwood Village, COLO. - Hot on the heels of a new store in Highland, Calif. and one opening later this month in Oceanside, Calif., Maui Wowi Hawaiian, the gourmet coffee and fruit smoothie franchise, is planning to add one more store to the growing list in the state. Dennis Lundy and his wife Julie Jackson, are entering into the franchise business with a vision of bringing the natural products and laidback atmosphere to the community in Chico, California.

Lundy and Jackson, who have been together for over 10 years and built a family together, say they are excited to open a Maui Wowi location that embodies the spirit of Hawaii and their love of the islands. After searching for the perfect franchise, Jackson says she discovered Maui Wowi and felt that it was the right fit from the very beginning.

"The concept is all about family and we love knowing that we will always have somebody behind us; guiding us as we grow," says Jackson. "Dennis and I both love coffee and smoothies; the whole concept thrills us both. We are all excited to share it with our friends and the Chico community."

Jackson has previous business ownership experience and will use that knowledge to help manage their franchise as it grows. Lundy, plans to make use of his connections within the community as a California State University Chico alum and longtime resident. Jackson says this is going to be a family business. She will be working beside one of their daughters, Stephanie, to start with, and their other two daughters will be joining in as the business grows.

"We have found a product we not only enjoy but can truly stand behind. With the true Hawaiian concept, great coffee, healthy smoothies, and ‘ohana, Maui Wowi is a great opportunity that we look forward to building together as a family."

Chico is located north of Sacramento. It is home to California State University and Chico Community College. It is known for their certified farmer’s markets and has over 103 churches. Chico is also listed as one of the top 10 most bike-friendly communities. With all that and much more, Lundy and Jackson are excited to share Maui Wowi with their great community and know that Chico and the surrounding areas will enjoy the Hawaiian coffee and natural, no preservatives, gluten-free, fruit smoothies. They also hope the Maui Wowi location will attract customers as a gathering place with areas to study, hold meetings, or just relax. There is no specific opening date or site of the new location as of yet but they aim to move quickly to bring a taste of the islands to their town.
