McDonald's Veteran Franchisee Adopts Rally's®

After 44 Years with McDonald's, Entrepreneur Comes Out of Retirement to Open Rally's Restaurants

July 21, 2014 // Franchising.com // Tampa, Florida - Checkers and Rally's Restaurants, Inc. (Rally's®), the largest double drive-thru chain in the United States, continues to attract seasoned franchising professionals seeking new opportunities with a powerfully growing brand. Joining the ever-increasing Rally's team, Louis Stallman will help the brand expand across Ohio with his first opening at 34001 Vine St., Eastlake, Ohio.

In celebration of the new restaurant in his hometown, Stallman successfully opened his restaurant in April with record crowds.

"We continue to move Rally's forward by strengthening our presence in existing markets and increasing our brand awareness by partnering with experienced franchisees such as Stallman," Jennifer Durham, Vice President of Franchise Development for Checkers and Rally's Restaurants, Inc., said. "We're confident Stallman, a franchising veteran, will be very successful in continuing the momentum of Rally's growth in Ohio."

Stallman, 63, kick started a career in the franchise industry in 1958 as a McDonald's crew member. Over the course of 44 years, he worked his way through the ranks to become manager, supervisor, Director of Operations and then owner/operator of his own restaurants. The Ohio native acted as a franchisee for more than 24 years, running a McDonald's in Oklahoma until relocating to operate four restaurants in Arkansas.

After a fulfilling career with McDonald's, Stallman decided it was time to retire, return home to Cleveland and spend time with his three children and seven grandchildren.

"I came out of retirement because I love the food business and I love working with people. My goal is to build people up and help them grow to their maximum potential," Stallman said. "I chose an opportunity with Rally's because it's up-and-coming and there's great people behind it."

With his new opening, Stallman will be adding 40 jobs to the community, and then another 40 with his second location slated to open later this year.

"The Rally's franchise opportunity continues to draw interest from business savvy entrepreneurs, who see our constant menu innovation and growth opportunities in new and existing markets as being a recipe for success," Durham said. "This new development highlights the opportunity that Rally's provides for franchisees of varying backgrounds to build a successful restaurant business."

Rally's continues to add craveable menu selections and introduce daring flavors to its fans. Options such as Monsterella Stix, Cold Creations and the original Big Buford® aim to bring the freshest ingredients and boldest flavors to hungry guests. The company continues to innovate, and remains true to its commitment to provide crazy good food at an exceptional value.

Checkers and Rally's continues to grow, with opportunities for ownership available in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, New York and Washington D.C, among other cities.
