Fountain Valley Fit Body Boot Camp Announces Fitness Boot Camp Fundraising Event for Casa de Familia

Fountain Valley fitness boot camp invites the community to have a great time getting fit, with proceeds going to local non-profit.

Fountain Valley, CA (PRWEB) August 22, 2014 - Minorities in Orange and Los Angeles counties are among the most under-served groups when it comes to mental health and recovery from trauma. Casa de Familia is one local non-profit that is trying to bridge the gap between local minorities and the help they need. A localfitness boot campis pitching in by making the connection between mental and physical health.

Fountain Valley Fit Body Boot Camp held a fundraising event at their fitness boot camp, located at 16560 Harbor Blvd., Suite D in Fountain Valley. The event took place on Saturday, August 16th, 2014 and was quite a success.

Everyone in the community was invited to join in one of several 30-minute Boot Camp Express workouts in exchange for a $10 donation to Casa de Familia.

"Casa de Familia gives underserved minorities the help they need in dealing with trauma and it does it in a culturally relevant, compassionate and non-judgmental way," says Fountain Valley Fit Body Boot Camp owner Zenia Joyner.

Joyner adds that she and her husband, co-owner Sam Joyner, have a passion for helping people get physically healthy, but that everyone also needs access to the help they need for psychological health.

Casa de Familia provides counseling and treatment for those who have suffered trauma and the majority of the people they help would have no access to such care and support on their own. Casa de Familia also emphasizes helping within a client’s cultural and ethnic context.

"We think that Casa de Familia does amazing work and makes a real contribution to Orange and Los Angeles Counties," says Joyner. "We want to help them do that."

The fundraising event was a total success for the Joyners’, the participants and Casa de Familia.

"We raised $160 in less than two hours", Sam claims. "We had new participants and existing members join in the fun. We have a real sense of community here and it was great to see everyone participate."

The workouts certainly gave participants their money’s worth, as Fountain Valley Fit Body Boot Campspecializes in fat-burning workouts of short duration but high-intensity. "Our workouts combine functional strength-training with high-intensity interval cardio, or HIIT," says Zenia. "They’re no walk in the park, but they are fun and they get amazing results."
