EnVie Fitness for Women Looks to Shake Up the Industry, Bring Female Fitness Landscape into New Era with U.S. Expansion

August 22, 2014 // Franchising.com // WACO, Texas – Most female fitness chains were designed more than two decades ago and while they may have evolved, they have not been custom-built to meet the realistic demands of today’s woman.

Recognizing that the female-only gym space is perfect for disruption, EnVie Fitness for Women is bringing the female fitness landscape into a new era and breaking open the market with a new concept rigorously customized to the researched demands of today’s female client.

"EnVie recognized the need and saw the enormous opportunity to build a successful new concept that is miles ahead. We asked, ‘What do women today need and what do they want?’ Then we built it into the system," said EnVie COO Gary Findley. "EnVie caters to current lifestyle needs by offering an exciting program that is fast, convenient, and effective, with all the amenities to suit a woman’s daily routine. It’s a wish list directly from American women themselves."

Founded in Australia in 2012, EnVie (pronounced on-vee and French for "in life") incorporates the exclusive services of a Fitness Concierge, offering an exceptional experience tailor-made to meet today’s female needs and interests. Each gym is a state-of-the-art designed facility which is a fresh change to any big box gym. The captivating atmosphere – complete with over 40 motivating weekly group training sessions, top quality equipment, extended hours, nutritional guidance, and flexible membership options – makes even the most timid exercisers comfortable.

Aside from being a daily gym goer himself, Findley already has considerable experience in the female fitness sector as one of those who built the Curves International chain, which grew to 8,000 locations during his eight-year tenure as the company’s president and COO. He says he’s drawing on that experience to roll out the EnVie franchise across the country, starting with the opening of EnVie’s first U.S. studio last month in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

"The concepts for most female chains were developed 20-25 years ago, so it’s high time there was something different. We’ve built an effective platform for the women of today, who are more busy and time-conscious than ever before," he added.

Company plans call for having five total locations open and operating nationwide by the end of 2014 and more than 100 by 2017.

For franchisees with a genuine passion for health and fitness, EnVie offers an innovative, affordable package based on a true partnership and mission to grow the member bank. With a franchise fee of $29,900, the total investment to own and operate an EnVie studio ranges from $140,000 to $170,000.

Instead of the usual franchise practice of taking a percentage of each studio’s takings, EnVie takes a payment for each member – $1 per member per week – which Findley says is the "key metric" in the fitness industry. "That has the net effect of really incentivizing us as a franchisor to increase the members per studio, which benefits the franchisee as much as anyone."
