Metal Supermarkets Franchisees Get Switched On At 2014 Conference

September 26, 2014 // Franchising.com // Metal Supermarkets, the world’s largest supplier of small-quantity metals, held its annual franchisee conference in Toronto, Ontario from September 18 to 20, 2014.

The conference was attended by over 75 Metal Supermarkets franchisees and corporate staff from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Attendees celebrated franchisee success, reviewed new directions and developments and established a plan forward for Metal Supermarkets’ continued growth.

"This year’s conference was our largest to date, and definitely a success" said Stephen Schober, President and Chief Executive Officer. "The event provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate success, inform franchisees of new programs, and share best practices."

Key topics included developing new technology to support stores, improving operational standards and procedures, and rolling out new marketing programs and initiatives to support ongoing network growth.

The conference theme, "Get Switched On", encouraged franchisees to get excited about new tools, technology and resources designed to maximize customer service, sales and ongoing profitability.

A highlight of the conference was the Awards Banquet, which took place at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Awards Banquet celebrated franchisee achievements in areas such as sales growth, customer service and safety.

Garrett Morrell, Metal Supermarkets franchisee servicing the Chicago (Villa Park) area, received the prestigious Franchisee of the Year award. This award recognizes achievement in three key areas: operational excellence, strength in performance and brand dedication. Morrell, a Metal Supermarkets franchisee since 2011, has tripled the size of the business in three short years.

  • Rookie of the Year – Steve Senger, Metal Supermarkets (Wheat Ridge)
  • Sales Growth Award – Chris Hare and Scott Turner, Metal Supermarkets (Etobicoke)

Next year’s Franchisee Conference will take place in Memphis, Tennessee September 24 – 26, 2015.
