New Zealand Wines Take Center Stage This Fall with the Sheraton Selects Spotlight Series

Starwood's Largest Brand Announces Second Installment of Sheraton Selects Spotlight Wine Program, Highlighting Trending Wine Regions and Varietals

STAMFORD, Conn. - October 1, 2014 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Following the successful launch of the Sheraton Selects wine program with a summer of refreshing Rieslings, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts turns the spotlight onto the fastest growing wine importing region to the United States: New Zealand. The Sheraton Selects Spotlight on New Zealand will kick off on October 1 with a wine pairing dinner at the Sheraton Boston, led by Export Director for Kim Crawford, Matt Deller. Now through the end of November, participating Sheraton properties will create compelling programming to feature carefully chosen Sheraton Selects New Zealand wines, including wine flights, food pairings, guided tastings and more.

New Zealand has made a name for itself producing world-class Sauvignon Blanc, and Sheraton Hotels will showcase highly rated wines from this region at participating properties with partner Kim Crawford Wines. The Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc harvests grapes from vineyards in Marlborough's Wairau Valley and the neighboring Awatere Valley, offering aromas of citrus and tropical fruits backed by characteristic herbaceous notes and a juicy acidity and fruit sweetness that provide a balanced flavor profile. The finish is fresh, zesty, and lingering.

"Our Sheraton Selects Spotlight wine program is designed to showcase the latest wine industry trends, and with New Zealand wine's growing popularity in the U.S., it is the ideal region to highlight this fall," said Hoyt Harper, Global Brand Leader for Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. "Social Hour was designed to create an atmosphere which encourages social interactions among our guests, becoming a destination for great wine experiences."

Part of the Sheraton premium wine program, Sheraton Selects Spotlight Series includes two New Zealand wine offerings on all participating Sheraton Selects menus at properties in North America. Hotels may also offer New Zealand wine flights of at least three varieties and food pairings to complement each New Zealand wine. Sheraton Selects feature some of the world's top winemakers such as Chateau Ste. Michelle, Kim Crawford, Eroica, Dr. Loosen, Pacific Rim, Hogue and Stonecap.
