New Fashion Resale Store in Chandler to Celebrate Grand Opening

Chandler, AZ (PRWEB) October 31, 2014 - Local business owners Brenda Spezzacatena and Molly Varner are excited to announce the grand opening of their new resale store, Uptown Cheapskate, on Friday, Nov. 7. Unlike a traditional thrift store, this trendy teen and young adult fashion reseller, located at 3454 W Chandler Blvd. in Chandler, pays shoppers cash for their second hand clothes, shoes and other apparel items and resells them at highly discounted prices.

The grand opening weekend begins Thursday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. for the VIP night, an exclusive preview held for customers who have sold to Uptown Cheapskate during the open-to-buy period. VIP customers will be able to get first pick for trendy second hand clothing and enjoy food from The Grilled Cheese Truck, the famous food truck franchise that has grown in popularity as social media followers track where the truck will stop next.

On Friday, the first 50 customers will receive free waffles from Waffle Crush, a local food truck owned by two lifelong friends who specialize in gourmet Liège waffles. Country-singer Laura Walsh, an Arizona native who debuted as a contestant on The Voice, will make a guest appearance at the store and perform from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. followed by a fashion presentation at 7 p.m. sponsored by Flict - House of Hair salon and HoneyBaked Ham. On Saturday, Nov. 8 shoppers will have the chance to win various prizes including a $150 shopping spree through Instagram or the grand prize giveaway, a new 16GB iPhone 6, winner announced at 5 p.m.

For several weeks, the store has been open to the public to purchase customers’ gently used fashions, filling the racks in preparation for the grand opening. Customers will then be able to come in and shop brand name and designer clothing and accessories at up to 70 percent less than retail.

Uptown Cheapskate focuses on buying current styles of apparel, shoes and accessories that appeal to a wide range of teens and young adults. After the grand opening, Uptown Cheapskate will continue to pay customers cash on the spot or 25 percent more in store credit for their gently used items.

In addition to carrying hundreds of recycled items, the new Uptown Cheapskate store will also offer many new products including jewelry, shoes and assorted clothing items.

Spezzacatena along with her mother and partner, Varner are current franchisees of the Kid to Kid store in Ahwatukee. A sister concept to Uptown Cheapskate, Kid to Kid buys and resells children's clothing, toys, books and baby gear. "We’re coming up on our 10 year anniversary with Kid to Kid and are now looking forward to expanding into the world of fashion for teens and young adults," said Spezzacatena. "We are passionate about resale and love helping customers find ways to look good while saving money."
