Fresh Coat Annapolis Paints Lighthouse Christian Academy at No Charge

Matthew McKay, owner of Fresh Coat Annapolis, donated painting services to provide school with a fresh coat as part of the franchise's national Paint it Forward project.

Annapolis, MD (PRWEB) November 06, 2014 - For Fresh Coat Annapolis owner Matthew McKay, giving back is a natural way to say thank you to the community that supports the business. So when he heard that Lighthouse Christian Academy was in need of a fresh coat of paint, the team grabbed their paintbrushes.

"Being a good community steward is something that's always been important to us and we were happy to do this for Lighthouse Christian Academy. Both of my kids attend the school and it's a wonderful place for children to learn and grow. Hopefully, with this fresh coat of paint, it will be an even better place," McKay said.

Fresh Coat Annapolis provided the labor for the job and Sherwin Williams, Fresh Coat's national partner, donated the paint. McKay said the entire job would have normally cost close to $14,000.

Lighthouse Christian Academy in Stevensville serves children from kindergarten through 12th grade and is connected to Safe Harbor Presbyterian Church, which also uses the classrooms for various ministries. School Principal Linda Whiting was thrilled with the donation and the result of Fresh Coat's work.

"Children certainly don't mean to mess up the walls, but it just happens, and so our 12 classrooms and the hall really needed to be freshened up. If you consider just how much paint and man-hours cost – it was a tremendous blessing to have Matthew and his team volunteer to do the work for free. It was a huge savings for the school and the church," Whiting said.
