Christian Brothers Automotive Celebrates "Apples for Teachers" Winner

Company Hosts School-Wide Pizza Party for Winning Educator

OWASSO, OK (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 - Christian Brothers Automotive, a national automotive repair franchise, recently celebrated the second annual "Apples for Teachers" grand prize winner by purchasing a lot of pizza.

The company’s nationwide contest allowed customers and fans to nominate a deserving teacher, and this year’s winner was U.S. History teacher Loyd Ingham of Owasso High School. The grand prize was a pizza party for the entire school, so on Friday November 14th, representatives from the Christian Brothers home office travelled to Owasso to serve pizza to the 1,500 students of OHS.

"We’re so excited to be able to honor excellent educators like Mr. Ingham again this year," says Christian Brothers Marketing Director, Duone Byars. "Supporting our local communities is a huge part of our mission, and teachers are such an important part of the community. They often don’t get enough recognition, so we want to shine a light on the great work they do, and just say thank you."

In addition to pizza, Christian Brothers representatives, including two local franchise owners, handed out branded sunglasses to the students.

"The kids were thrilled to have a pizza party during their lunch period," says Owasso High School principal Matt Roberts. "They were particularly excited that they got two pieces each, instead of just one. The sunglasses were a big hit, too."

Local Owasso Christian Brothers owner Ray Adcock presented Mr. Ingham with his prizes at the school pep assembly at the end of the day. In addition to the pizza party, Mr. Ingham received an iPad Mini, a $250 gift card to Office Depot, and a $250 gift certificate to Christian Brothers Automotive. Asked which prize he was most excited about: "definitely the pizza party," says Mr. Ingham. "My wife is excited about the iPad, and she can have it. But the kids loved the free pizza."

Everyone involved agreed the celebration was a success. "We ordered 400 pizzas from the local Papa John’s in Owasso," says Byars. "It was a huge order, but every pizza arrived on time and piping hot. They really came through for us." To top it off, the OHS football team won their state playoff game Friday evening, and is now heading into the semi-finals.
