CREAM Answers the Call for Ice Cream Sandwiches

NPD Names Ice Cream Sandwiches the Number 8 Food of the Decade

November 21, 2014 // // Millbrae, CA – The past decade has seen sweeping changes in American food trends and a nostalgic treat is making a serious comeback, with the help of CREAM, a San Francisco-based dessert franchise that specializes in high quality ice cream sandwiches and other confections.

The consumer market research group, NPD, recently revealed its top 10 foods of the decade with the ice cream sandwich coming in at number 8. The dessert treat saw a 6.2 percent increase in consumers eating them at least once every two weeks. The list included other staples like pizza, Mexican food and yogurt.

CREAM, which is an acronym for "Cookies Rule Everything round Me," offers a menu of 20 ice cream flavors and 20 cookie flavors and as many as 24 toppings that customers can mix and match, as well as vegan and gluten-free options. While the ice cream sandwiches are the main draw, CREAM also has milkshakes, floats, malts, scoops of ice cream and other baked goods, such as "The Cream Taco," a taco shell shaped waffle cone.

"The announcement doesn't come as a surprise to us, we have seen first hand the tremendous amount of consumers eating ice cream sandwiches at all of our locations," said CREAM co-founder Jimmy Shamieh.

Shamieh attributes the popularity of the dessert treat not to just nostalgia, but also to the customization and price of CREAM's sandwiches. "We offer an almost endless amount of combinations of cookies, ice cream and toppings, all in or around the low price of 2.99 per sandwich, making them affordable, delicious and fun."
