Massage Heights Expands Canadian Reach

Company continues to grow creating an additional 125 new jobs over the next two years.

December 04, 2014 // Franchising.com // San Antonio, Texas – Massage Heights continues the aggressive growth of its franchise system with the announcement of its newest Retreat openings in Canada and plans to develop an additional six Retreats within the next two years. "We are extremely pleased with the performance of the Massage Heights Canada Retreats, month over month. The five Calgary locations are within our Top 10 performing locations system wide. We are excited about the new additions in Edmonton and the ability to provide an elevated massage experience," said Shane Evans, Co-Founder and President of Massage Heights.

Doug McNabb and Ken Carter joined Massage Heights in 2009 as a Master Franchisee for the Canadian market. McNabb is the owner of Fabutan, a chain of 130+ tanning studios in Canada and Carter has owned as many as 110 Jenny Craig franchises around the world. Under their leadership, the Massage Heights Canadian Retreats continue to shine as shown by their numerous achievements. The Southland Crossing, Signal Hill and 4th Street locations are members of The Million Dollar Club and the 1,000 Member Club; in 2014, three of their Retreats are in the Top 10 for Gross Revenue with one of their locations being the Top Grossing Retreat so far in 2014. Southland Crossing also holds one of the Top 5 Peak Performer slots for Average Ticket and the Edmonton Mayfield Retreat, which opened in May, continues to outperform monthly gross revenue goals by 104%. It is expected that Massage Heights will break the $2 million dollar annual gross revenue for a single location in the Canadian market by year end; further supporting the potential for success internationally.

The Emerald Hills Retreat in Sherwood Park is scheduled to open at the end of November followed by the Old Strathcona Retreat in Edmonton early December. With the development of the additional six Retreats and the expansion of the 4th Street location over the next two years, McNabb and Carter will create over 125 new jobs and will touch approximately 621,250 lives through their therapeutic massage services.

This achievement comes not only as the company celebrates its 10th anniversary in April, 2014 but also follows a recent appearance by the company’s COO and co-Founder Shane Evans on CBS’ hit reality series, Undercover Boss. The expansion into the Canadian market is part of the aggressive growth plan for the company that opened its 100th Retreat in December 2013 and has 30 in development and plans for 75 licenses in 2014.
