Wayback Burgers Partners with Uncle Willie’s BBQ, Debuts New Franchisor

Connecticut-based Brands Join Forces to Introduce Uncle Willie's International LLC

CHESHIRE, Conn. - February 16, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Recognized as one of the most aggressive and ambitious "better burger" brands in the United States, Jake's Franchising LLC, franchisor of Wayback Burgers today announced a partnership with authentic real down home barbecue joint, Uncle Willie's BBQ, to begin franchising the concept nationwide in April 2015. The new company, Uncle Willie's International LLC, is based in Cheshire, Connecticut.

As an established franchisor, Jake's Franchising LLC will be able to lend its franchise expertise and backhouse operations to grow the Uncle Willie's brand to its full potential, all while Uncle Willie's BBQ offers a stellar product and is recognized as one of America's top 10 barbeque restaurants by Roadfood writers Jane and Michael Stern. Uncle Willie's BBQ is now backed by the strength of Wayback Burgers, an established franchise brand with over 100 locations operating nationwide, with a strong regional presence in the North East. Since its inception in 2009, Wayback Burgers has since established itself as a top contender in the "better burger" segment, more than doubling its franchise footprint in the past three years.

Uncle Willie's was founded by married duo Bill and Diane Lombardi. The Middlebury residents opened their first storefront location in 1995 only after traveling the south to learn the tricks of their future trade. The authentic barbecue joint features a varied menu of southern specialties including tender pit-smoked ribs, pulled pork and brisket, barbecue chicken, meatloaf, fried chicken and fish, steamed burgers, sides and down-home desserts.

Wayback Burgers' multi-unit franchisee and Jake's Franchising LLC's Director of Construction, Patricia Verderame, will lead the new company, as she becomes President of Uncle Willie's International LLC. The companies will operate independent of each other with no crossover of employees with operations or marketing. Uncle Willie's two existing locations will remain privately owned by the founders.
