Travel Agents Win National Business Award In Celebration of Women’s History Month

Home-based travel agencies CruiseOne® and Cruises Inc.® honor female agents with OPAL Award for leadership and community service

(PRWEB) March 17, 2015 - Leading home-based travel agencies CruiseOne® and Cruises Inc.® celebrate Women’s History Month in March by honoring a female vacation specialist from CruiseOne and Cruises Inc. with the OPAL Award for Women. The company has named Margaret Miner and Vivian Webb the 2015 recipients of this prestigious award.

The OPAL Award recognizes a female franchise owner and independent vacation specialist who demonstrate Outstanding Performance And Leadership. The honoree is active in community and civic organizations, is among CruiseOne and Cruises Inc.’s top selling agents and has exhibited strong business skills. Miner and Webb will each receive three months of waived fees and a $100 gift certificate.

“Over the past three years the OPAL Award has quickly become one of our most popular awards among CruiseOne franchisees, and as a result we decided to expand it by recognizing one female Cruises Inc. independent vacation specialist,” said Tim Courtney, vice president of franchise and network development at CruiseOne and Cruises Inc. “Margaret and Vivian have an infectious passion for travel and business which they share with everyone they meet – whether in their local communities or by inspiring other CruiseOne franchisees and Cruises Inc. independent vacation specialists.”

A resident of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Miner has been a CruiseOne franchise owner for two years with a mission of helping others to live fully, giving back to the community and encouraging people to travel often. Miner’s community and civic involvement includes membership in her local Chamber of Commerce and sponsorship of community events, organizing group travel for residents of Pleasant Hill Senior Center, and hosting fundraising cruises benefiting animal shelters and sanctuaries. In addition, in 2014 she was named Chairwoman of the AHA! Movement Foundation, an anti-hazing awareness movement for teenagers and college students.

Webb has been a Cruises Inc. vacation specialist in Lynchburg, Va. for nearly 25 years and has developed innovative events and partnerships to grow her business. She hosts a monthly Girls Night Out with a different beneficiary each month and volunteers with the Elks at their annual Marketplace assisting other small businesses and raising awareness for the event as a whole. In addition, she oversees social media networking groups for charities and small businesses in the Lynchburg area with the goal of forging new relationships, fundraising and educating others on travel and small business.
